About Ossian, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Situated in Wells County, Indiana, Ossian is a small township with about 3,400 residents as of 2017. This community was named for Ossian, author, and narrator of a cycle of poems published by Scottish poet James Macphereson in 1760. The community’s modern history dates back to the mid-1800s, and the Ossian Post Office has operated here since 1850. Northern Wells Community Schools serves Ossian and the rest of Wells County, and older students will complete their public education at Norwell High School. This family-centered community is conveniently located ten miles south of Fort Wayne, which offers residents many economic opportunities.

There are a few interesting places to visit in Ossian. Children will love to visit the Minion Silo and to play at Archbold Wilson Park. Residents enjoy delicious meals at one of the community’s many restaurants, including Heyerly Bakery, Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant, and Crimson House Café. Additionally, there are some specialty shops located here, such as The BLOOMIN’ BREWtique and Sew Creative Custom Embroidery.

Climate controls are a necessity in Ossian, as weather conditions vary with the changing seasons. Summers in the area are great for outdoor activities, although many days feature high temperatures and humidity levels. Thermostat readings in the 80s are common, and severe thunderstorms are also possible. Many locals invest in central air conditioning to cool off temperatures indoors, leading to a more comfortable season at home.

During the autumn and winter months, central A/C units will get very little use, as temperatures quickly cool off. Average daily highs only reach the low-30s in January, and overnight thermostat readings often drop well below freezing. Energy bills and environmental concerns have increased awareness of efficient heating sources, and many Ossian residents now opt for high-efficiency furnace systems to keep warm during these months. Electric furnaces will reduce a family’s fossil fuel consumption while providing uniform heating throughout a space.
