About Columbia City, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Columbia City is a growing community found in northeast Indiana. As of 2017, the population of this city had surpassed 9,000 residents, and as more businesses move to the area, future growth is anticipated. This Whitely County seat was originally founded in 1839, and it remained quite small until the completion of a local railway in 1856. Since that time, a variety of industries have called Columbia City home, including plastics and car parts. In fact, Columbia City was previously the largest blue jean producer in the U.S., and while that may not be a major part of today’s economy, there are still many employment opportunities available here.

Columbia City is full of many wonderful things to do and places to visit. Antique enthusiasts will love to check out the Vintage Antique Marketplace, while families with younger children may prefer to stop by Morsches Park or the Fun Center at Paige’s Crossing. Local brews are on tap at Chapman’s Brewing Co – Columbia City Taproom and popular area restaurants include CJ’s Drive-In, The NOOK, and Downtown on the Square.

It is important that Columbia city residents know what to expect in terms of the climate and plan accordingly. Summer weather here can be hot and humid, with average daily highs in the 80s during July and August. While there are many sunny days in which locals want to spend some time outdoors, rainy conditions with severe weather are also common. It is important that residents have a central air conditioner or another cooling system in place at home in order to stay comfortable regardless of outdoor weather patterns.

Columbia City residents can expect low temperatures and moderate snowfall during the winter season. Average accumulation totals about 34 inches of snow throughout the year, and temperatures are often freezing. January is the coldest month, and daily highs only reach an average of 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The right gas or electric furnace with a high AFUE rating will keep interior conditions comfortable while also preventing damage to pipes and plumbing systems.
